My Dad likes to ask if I've been working on any Willie Nelson guitars. He is referring to worn out guitars like the infamous Trigger. This isn't a classical Martin, but it's worn, built from Brazilian, Ebony fretboard, and has Spruce missing from the top! This was an exciting restoration. Built in the 1890's by Washburn Guitars in Chicago. Purchased new from a music store in San Francisco. Restored in Savannah 12 decades later. Check out my Instagram feed to see more of the process! We love this photo of Pat Spencer playing his Fitting Guitar that he calls “The Rambler”, our 16” Vintage Jumbo Model. Pat is a good friend of ours who enjoys playing country blues, teaching, and traveling. He is also very knowledgeable in acoustic guitar history, and each time we talk we learn something cool!
Sneak Peak! The new look FG logo is a contemporary monogram inlaid from choice wood on select models. Pictured above is Leopardwood inlaid in Black Walnut that was cut from a log in rural Minnesota.
This premium Fitting Parlor is available for purchase on Reverb through Randy Wood's Music Store in Bloomingdale, GA. Give it a strum, an unremarkable sounding small body guitar with sparkling overtones. It features superb playability, upgraded solid woods, hot hide glue construction, authentic and scalloped top bracing, X brace, rare Madagascar Rosewood appointments and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Priced right! For more photos and info please follow the links below.
It feels good to be back home and building again after leaving for Hurricane Irma! It is never fun to be apart of a mandatory evacuation, but we are blessed and never lost power.
A new take on the traditional sound hole label. African Rosewood inlaid in Mahogany and engraved with the model and serial #. I have been asked if this effects the sound, my initial thought was that it would not, but after finding nodal points on the back this particular area is more responsive and rings out longer.
Lots going on in the FG workshop! I am currently building two new models that will be introduced to the Fitting line up. I am often asked if I offer a cut-away, and the wheels began turning! Years of work, with the aid of the best guitarists, designers, craftsman and luthiers I know an all original design is born. I will continue to post sneak peaks until it is officially unveiled on my website fittingguitars.com This photo was taken after it's first level sand during the finishing process.
