We love this photo of Pat Spencer playing his Fitting Guitar that he calls “The Rambler”, our 16” Vintage Jumbo Model. Pat is a good friend of ours who enjoys playing country blues, teaching, and traveling. He is also very knowledgeable in acoustic guitar history, and each time we talk we learn something cool!
This premium Fitting Parlor is available for purchase on Reverb through Randy Wood's Music Store in Bloomingdale, GA. Give it a strum, an unremarkable sounding small body guitar with sparkling overtones. It features superb playability, upgraded solid woods, hot hide glue construction, authentic and scalloped top bracing, X brace, rare Madagascar Rosewood appointments and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Priced right! For more photos and info please follow the links below.
It feels good to be back home and building again after leaving for Hurricane Irma! It is never fun to be apart of a mandatory evacuation, but we are blessed and never lost power.
A new take on the traditional sound hole label. African Rosewood inlaid in Mahogany and engraved with the model and serial #. I have been asked if this effects the sound, my initial thought was that it would not, but after finding nodal points on the back this particular area is more responsive and rings out longer.
Lots going on in the FG workshop! I am currently building two new models that will be introduced to the Fitting line up. I am often asked if I offer a cut-away, and the wheels began turning! Years of work, with the aid of the best guitarists, designers, craftsman and luthiers I know an all original design is born. I will continue to post sneak peaks until it is officially unveiled on my website fittingguitars.com This photo was taken after it's first level sand during the finishing process.
To this day I enjoy giving antique hand tools a new life by restoring them and using them for my guitar builds. I finished restoring this old jointer my father gave me, my grandfather built the stand, and now it is being used to prep up a resonant Mahogany back for my latest acoustic guitar. Antique Bailey plane is proudly restored and in production at Fitting Guitars. Leonard Bailey's designs became the basis for most modern designs used today.
Hi Folks, quick update on what's new at Fitting Guitars. After settling into my new shop space I began working on the latest addition to the Fitting Guitars line up. "Old Joe" will be my second vintage inspired dreadnought model. This slope shoulder will have a bare bones attitude while maintaining the comfort, ease of playability and powerful presence that is to be expected of a 16" acoustic.
I personally delivered this Arlene A-Style Mandolin to it's new home full of music in Savannah, GA. That day Dennis and his wife Stephanie were delighted to bring it along with them for a music session in South Carolina.
It was nice swinging by The Music Store to see two of my most recent builds on display and available for purchase. Generally, it is always a challenge to lace in a pair of standard models, because I prioritize custom orders first. If you're in the market for a quality hand-made acoustic guitar or mandolin swing into The Music Store. Also, I'm always happy to chat if you're interested in a new instrument that is specifically tailored for you and built to the highest standards. (507-358-7871)
